Semi-Formal Pathway – A pre-subject specific curriculum where pupils access a skills and knowledge based curriculum with a communication focus on exploring and formalising individual communication systems alongside a total communication approach. Supporting pupil engagement within learning before moving on to enabling pupils to develop formal learning skills. This pathway uses the engagement model (DfE July 2020).
Intent
At Greenmead Primary School we focus on our children and what they can do now. This is the foundation upon which all pathways build. In the Semi-Formal pathway learning opportunities are focused around the following;
Supporting Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED) as a priority through building meaningful relationships.
Developing ‘readiness to learn’ through supporting regulation.
Establishing and embedding formalised communication to access learning opportunities as well as social communication.
Providing exciting and varied learning opportunities and experiences which inspire our pupils to engage with the world around them, promoting curiosity and a desire to learn.
The Friends of Greenmead (FOG) is the registered charity of Greenmead School. It depends on the support of parents, friends and staff for its success. Through FOG’s fundraising activities, Greenmead pupils have access to a range of facilities which would not otherwise be available. This includes funding Music Therapy. New parents are encouraged to join. If you would like to make a donation to the school please contact the school office or go to www.justgiving.com
